Student Lemonade Stand

When Aspire lost our AmeriCorps funding due to federal funding cuts, many of our students wanted to know what they could do to help. They wrote letters, showed up at school and County board meetings, and gave a warm welcome to the 15 former AmeriCorps members we were able to hire back on in part-time, temporary positions.
Now, they’re excited to get out in the community and help raise money to sustain Aspire’s work going forward! On Sunday, July 20th, Aspire students will have a stand at the Columbia Pike Farmers Market from 9am-1pm, at the intersection of Columbia Pike and S Walter Reed Drive. They’ll be selling freshly made lemonade, art, baked goods, and food from our Community Garden to raise funds for Aspire.
All donations up to $1,000 will be matched by Rock Spring Congregational Church of Christ. Our partners at Read Early and Daily (READ), will also set up a table at the stand so that everyone who purchases a treat can also choose a free book. Additionally, at their Book Nook bookshop, July 20th will be a designated *Aspire Day* with 20% of sales for the day going to Aspire.
Our students can’t wait to represent Aspire to the community. We hope to see you there!
