SUMMARY:Student Lemonade Stand
DESCRIPTION:When Aspire lost our AmeriCorps funding due to federal funding cuts\, many of our students wanted to know what they could do to help. They wrote letters\, showed up at school and County board meetings\, and gave a warm welcome to the 15 former AmeriCorps members we were able to hire back on in part-time\, temporary positions. \nNow\, they’re excited to get out in the community and help raise money to sustain Aspire’s work going forward! On Sunday\, July 20th\, Aspire students will have a stand at the Columbia Pike Farmers Market from 9am-1pm\, at the intersection of Columbia Pike and S Walter Reed Drive. They’ll be selling freshly made lemonade\, art\, baked goods\, and food from our Community Garden to raise funds for Aspire. \nAll donations up to $1\,000 will be matched by Rock Spring Congregational Church of Christ. Our partners at Read Early and Daily (READ)\, will also set up a table at the stand so that everyone who purchases a treat can also choose a free book. Additionally\, at their Book Nook bookshop\, July 20th will be a designated *Aspire Day* with 20% of sales for the day going to Aspire. \nOur students can’t wait to represent Aspire to the community. We hope to see you there!

DESCRIPTION:Join Aspire for a night of fun\, food\, and learning. Come see the various hands-on projects that students have been working on this spring\, including a nutrition magazine and research on the towns called “Arlington” across America. You’ll get to see the hard work of Aspire students and hear them explain what they did and what they found in their research. This fun community event will also include a potluck meal! While it’s not required\, we invite you to bring some food if you’re able.
