Eman Teshome graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After college, she worked in Human Resources as a contract recruiter for UPS. When her contract ended, Eman sought a fulfilling position that could positively impact others. That’s when she discovered Aspire, a nonprofit aligned with her values and goals. Originally from Ethiopia, Eman moved to Maryland at nine years old. Adjusting to a new language was tough, especially since her parents only spoke Amharic, making schoolwork challenging. Eman believes programs like Aspire Afterschool Learning could have made a big difference during those early school years.
Understanding the importance of education, especially for low-income and first-generation students, Eman was ecstatic to join the team and contribute to their mission. As Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator, Eman aims to find the most motivated and passionate educators for the students of Aspire.
