Assistant Director
  
Position Summary
The Assistant Director is a challenging and rewarding senior management position with Aspire!, providing substantial opportunities for creativity and professional growth. This position is responsible for Aspire!’s internal operations and systems, including overseeing programs, special projects, and initiatives in close coordination with the Executive Director.

Reporting Relationships
The Assistant Director reports directly to the Executive Director and recruits all AmeriCorps Members, as well as providing administrative supervision to the Program Manager and Program/Site Coordinators. The Assistant Director supervises two AmeriCorps Members.

Responsibilities

Office Management & Operations
  • Manages internal systems and operations to ensure efficiency, productivity and safety, including overall risk- reduction and compliance with best practices in audit standards
  • Manages information technology to ensure efficiency and productivity, including identifying solutions to address current challenges with an eye toward future needs
  • Manages vendors and contractors, including timely billing and invoicing Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Ensures that data are current and accurate and that tools are in place to support the analysis and sharing of data within and across programs
  • Monitors programming at each site and across partner sites
  • Ensures that measurable targets/outcomes are achieved based on internal goals as well as external commitments to funders, partners and stakeholders
  • Fulfills reporting requirements for grants, contracts, and agreements Program Oversight
  • Oversees current programs, ensuring successful service delivery
  • Identifies and addresses areas of need / gaps in services
  • Provides direct services and support if needed Personnel Management
  • Hires, evaluates and supports a large AmeriCorps team (13 full time Members)
  • Plans and implements ongoing, systematic professional develop and skills upgrade opportunities for staff, interns, Corps Members, and volunteers with input and support from program staff
  • Oversees program staff reporting and provides administrative supervision to program staff including Human Resources functions
Strategic Alliances & New Initiatives
  • Develops, cultivates and maintains strategic alliances, partnerships and other agency affiliations in both the public and private sectors to further Aspire!’s mission
  • Works collaboratively and flexibly with Executive Director on special projects and initiatives including but not limited to: program expansion plans; marketing, branding and outreach; fundraising and development; and more

Qualifications
  • Passion for providing equitable education opportunities to underserved populations
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Three years’ minimum management experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and capacity to manage multiple projects, strong follow-through
  • Strong quantitative skills, including data analysis and finance experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, verbal and written, both professionally and in relating to children and parents
  • Creative and flexible in addressing problems and strong initiative
  • Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse populations; Spanish-language skills a plus
  • Team player, positive attitude
